Review: Tested the Aveeno Calm + Restore Nourishing Oat Cleanser

The Aveeno Calm + Restore Nourishing Oat Cleanser is pretty good. It’s a gentle gel cleanser that also contains oats and feverfew to help your skin retain its moisture while also cleaning. It’s designed for people who have sensitive skin and the ingredient feverfew is something that helps soothe and reduce redness in your skin.

I have sensitive skin, anytime my skin doesn’t like a product it breaks out in patchy redness, like a mild form of eczema. When that happens, I know that product is something my skin cannot use as it is definitely not appealing to go out with blotchy red dry skin. I was pretty happy when I found out that the Aveeno Calm + Restore Cleanser did not cause my skin to break out or anything.

This is a cleanser, it’s designed to purify, hydrate and also soothe your skin. If you have dry skin, a face cleanser will help keep your skin barrier more moisturised and healthy. The second ingredient in this product contains glycerin, which is a great ingredient to help hydrate your skin. Glycerin is non-comedogenic (won’t clog your pores) and it helps reduce oily skin while also hydrate by acting as a humectant. It’s an ingredient that is safe for all skin type and is generally in a lot of skincare products already.

This product features oat kernel flour as the 4th ingredient on the list. Their prebiotic colloidal oatmeal helps replenish your natural moisture barrier to help balance out your skin. Collodial oatmeal is basically ground oatmeal that is placed in a liquid form for a better absorption to the skin. It’s a classic ingredient that can help soothe skin and relieve itchiness and irritation from dry skin. It’s great for those with eczema as clinical studies show that it can help strengthen your skin’s barrier. The second ingredient that is also prominantly featured in the product is feverfew. It’s a gentle natural ingredient that also soothe the skin and decrease redness. Studies have been done to suggest that feverfew extracts have anti-inflammatory activity on your skin.

Because this is for sensitive skin, this formula is pretty basic. It is fragrance free, paraben free, sulfate free, alcohol free, hypoallergenic and non-comedogenic. To use it, all you have to do is pump it onto your hands and rub it in circular motion on your face and then rinse it off. It feels really smooth and gentle to use and my face feels clean after it. My face didn’t feel tight where it seems like I rubbed too much off.

I like how it’s not expensive. Cleansing is such a small step in my skincare routine and often overlooked. Therefore I felt like there isn’t a need to splurge on the product. This is why the Aveeno Calm + Restore Cleanser so much. The formulations aren’t too over the top, it’s basic enough for everybody to understand what is being put onto your face. The product is capable of cleaning and eliminating oil and dirt off my skin while impressively hydrate my face and leaving it feeling plump and well nourished.
